Live Sculpting Demo – Jan 10th

Live Sculpting Demo – Jan 10th at 1PM
Kettle Pond Visitor Center
50 Bend Road, Charlestown, RI 02813-0307

I’ll be sculpting a piping plover in relief, live and in person. (I’ll be in person, not the plover.) I’ll go over a few polymer clay techniques, pass around some work, and show the stages I go through in creating a wall sculpture. I’ll also talk a little about the importance of observation and knowledge of birds and animals when making art. You’ll see that firsthand, as well as any mistakes I make and how I fix them 😉

A selection of my art and jewelry will be on display at the Kettle Pond Visitor Center throughout January. It’s right off Rt 1 and easy to get to. They’re open 7-days a week from 10am-4pm. (And they have a live turtle in the classroom so make sure you don’t miss it).

If you know of anyone else who might be interested, please pass this on. This Community Art program is a great combination of wildlife and art, and I’d really like to support it, especially since it’s relatively new. And if you are a Rhode Island wildlife or nature artist who’s interested in showing there, let me know and I’ll get you the contact info.

Sounds like this will be interesting! I’m always amazed at how much I learn about anything, including piping plovers!, when someone else brings my attention to it. Watching you sculpt is magical… with seemingly simple strokes you make creatures come alive in your clay. This will be a great event to attend!

Thanks Debbie. I think it should be fun. And it’s such a great program. I just have to brush up a little more on plovers ????
